Manual Shifting

Machines that are equipped with command control steering (1) Manual (2) Automatic shifts between fourth speed and second speed (3) Automatic shifts between third speed and second speed (4) Second speed (5) Automatic shifts between fourth speed and first speed
Illustration 2 g00773200
Machines that are equipped with conventional steering (1) Manual (2) Automatic shifts between fourth speed and second (3) Automatic shifts between fourth speed and first speedMove the autoshift control into the manual position (1). The transmission speed selector must be moved manually in order to change transmission speeds.Automatic Shifting
The transmission can be shifted automatically. Place the selector switch into one of the automatic positions. Machines that are equipped with conventional steering have two choices of automatic operation. Machines that are equipped with command control steering have four modes of automatic operation. The transmission will shift between the speeds that are selected with the switch. The transmission will not upshift past the highest selected gear. The transmission will not downshift into first speed unless the downshift switch is pressed or unless the downshift switch is placed into the "1-4" position. The downshift will not occur if the engine will overspeed.
Illustration 3 g00739359
Machines that are equipped with pilot operated bucket controls are equipped with a downshift switch that is located on the lift lever. Pressing the downshift switch will downshift the transmission by one speed. The transmission will only downshift if an engine overspeed will not occur. Holding the downshift switch will downshift the transmission as the machine speed decreases. Machines that are equipped with electro-hydraulic bucket controls use the speed selector switch that is located on the left side of the steering wheel in order to downshift the transmission. The machine can also be downshifted by using the left service brake pedal.ReferenceRefer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Service Brake Control".For example, place the selector switch into the "2-3" position. The machine will automatically shift between second speed and third speed. The transmission will not shift into first speed unless the downshift switch is pressed. The transmission will shift into first speed only when the engine will not overspeed. This switch is normally used to downshift from second speed to first speed while you are loading a bucket. The transmission will remain in the downshifted gear for three seconds after the switch is released. Then, automatic shifting will resume again.
