Schematic of the "Squeeze Pressure" Sensor
This diagnostic code is associated with the "Squeeze Pressure Sensor". The FMI 03 diagnostic code means that the Machine ECM determined that the sensor signal voltage is too high. Possible causes of this diagnostic code are:
The sensor has failed.
The sensor signal has shorted to another power supply source.
The sensor supply or the ground circuit in the machine harness is open.
The signal circuit in the machine harness is open or the sensor is disconnected.
The Machine ECM has failed, but is unlikely.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSORPOWER.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Insert the 7X-1710 Multimeter Probe leads into the back of the sensor connector along side of contact A (wire 308-YL(Yellow)) and contact B (wire A209-BK(Black)).
Measure the voltage (DCV) between signal contact B (wire E472-GN(Green)) and ground contact 2 (wire 235-BK(Black)). Expected Result:The voltage is 24 DCV.Results:
OK - The voltage is 24 DCV . The voltage is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage is NOT 24 DCV. There is an open circuit. Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
The machine harness remains disconnected from the sensor.
Disconnect the J1 connector from the Machine ECM.
At the J1 connector for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance from contact J1-16 (wire M906-BU(Blue)) to all of the other J1 contacts in the connector. Expected Result:The resistance measurements are all greater than 5 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance measurements are all greater than 5 ohms. The harness is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NO - The resistance measurements are NOT all greater than 5 ohms. There is a short in the harness.Repair: The short is in the wire with the low resistance measurement. Repair the harness or replace the harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN.
The sensor remains disconnected.
The disconnect switch and the key start switch remain in the OFF position.
The machine harness connectors remain disconnected from the Machine ECM.
At the J1 connector for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance between the return contact J1-16 (wire M906-BU(Blue)) and contact C (wire M906-BU(Blue)) at the sensor connector.
At the J1 connector for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance between the return contact J1-18 (wire A209-BK(Black)) and contact B (wire A209-BK(Black)) at the sensor connector.
At the J1 connector for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance between the return contact J1-23 (wire 308-YL(Yellow)) and contact A (wire 308-YL(Yellow)) at the sensor connector. Expected Result:The resistance measurements are all less than 5 ohms.Results:
YES - The resistance measurements are all less than 5 ohms. The harness resistance is correct. Proceed to Test Step 4.
NO - The resistance measurements are NOT all less than 5 ohms. A sensor circuit connection in the harness has failed.Repair: There is an open in the sensor circuits in the harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 4. CHECK IF
