Introduction
This Special Instruction provides a rework procedure to replace the 376-8859 Machine Electronic Control Module with the 379-2017 Electronic Control Module .Do not order any parts or perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read this information and you understand this information.Safety
Do not operate or work on this machine unless you have read and understand the instructions and warnings in the Operation and Maintenance Manuals. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death. Contact your Cat dealer for replacement manuals. Proper care is your responsibility.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Locate and loosen the five bolts (1) on the panel under the seat to the left of the com adaptor.

Once the bolts are removed, place the panel on the side of the seat as shown.

Remove the allen screw (2) that attaches the wiring harness to the ECM.

Remove the four allen screws (3) that attach the ECM.
Verify that the proper ECM is being installed by checking the part number on the label. The correct part number is 379-2017 Electronic Control Module . The incorrect part number is 376-8859 Machine Electronic Control Module .

Reinstall the ECM with the four allen screws (3) from Step 4. Torque the screws to 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft). Be sure to install the ground wire properly.

Reinstall the wiring harness to the ECM with the allen screw (2) from Step 3. Torque the screw to 6 1 N m (53 9 lb in)

Reinstall the panel under the seat. Use the five bolts (1) from Step 1. Torque the bolts to 6 1 N m (53 9 lb in).
Connect to com adapter and flash the ECM with the correct software file. Configure the machine to match the sales order.
Ensure the second auxiliary functions properly.
