Disassembly and Assembly, SENR8543, "120H & 135H Motor Graders Power Train", "Final Drives". This module is part of Service Manual, SENR8540.Disregard Step 14 in the referenced article. Refer to the following information.
Install the spanner nut and adjust the bearing preload.
Install spanner nut (17) to the drive shaft.
Rap the sprockets with a hammer while you rotate the shaft. Continue to turn the shaft. Tighten nut (17) in order to achieve a rolling torque of 7.9 1.1 N m (70 10 lb in).
Back nut (17) by one locking position. Rap the sprockets in order to ensure that the bearings are seated properly.
Check the final rolling torque. The final rolling torque should be 2.3 1.1 N m (20 10 lb in). As required, adjust nut (17) in order to achieve the correct final rolling torque.Note: The rolling torque that is specified in Testing and Adjusting, "Final Drive Preload - Check" includes more components. The rolling torque is substantially higher. Do not confuse the two values for rolling torque.
