Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Module.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove cable straps (3), disconnect harness assemblies (1), (4) and (5). Reposition harness assembly 2.

Remove bolts (6) and bracket assembly (7).

Remove bolts (8) and diesel exhaust fluid pump (9).
Illustration 4 g06190016Note: Place identification marks on DEF pump coolant connectors (10) and DEF pump connectors (11) for installation purposes. DEF pump coolant connectors (10) and DEF pump connectors (11) are not interchangeable.
Remove DEF pump coolant connectors (10) and DEF pump connectors (11) from the diesel exhaust fluid pump.Installation Procedure
Install diesel exhaust fluid pump (9) in the reverse order of removal.Note: To maintain cleanliness, the protective caps must remain in place until the final fluid connections are made.Note: Use of impact tools on bolts (6) and (8) is prohibited, 60 rpm max wrench speed.
Tighten DEF pump connectors (11) to a torque of 4.5 0.5 N.m (39.8 4 lb in).
Tighten DEF pump coolant connectors (10) to a torque of 5.5 0.5 N.m (48.7 4 lb in).
Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 19 2 N.m (168 18 lb in).
Tighten bolts (6) to a torque of 4 0.7 N.m (35 6.2 lb in).
