Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before moving the machine to perform the test that follows.
Use a suitable stationary object on a flat concrete floor that is clear of any other objects. Be sure to fasten the operator's seat belt.
Center the drawbar with the frame. Lower the blade. The blade should be 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) off of the floor. The blade should be perpendicular to the frame. Extend the blade all the way to the right or left.
Bring the blade into contact with the stationary object on the floor. There should be no more than 305 mm (12.00 inch) of blade beyond the center line of the stationary object.
Lock the differential (if equipped).
Engage the clutch pedal for the transmission and select third gear in the forward. Raise the engine RPM to high idle and release the clutch pedal. The slip clutch for the circle drive should slip.Note: For the 120H through the 163H, select fourth gear forward. Raise the engine RPM to high idle and quickly release the clutch pedal. The slip clutch for the circle drive should slip.
If the slip clutch does not slip, use the following procedure.
Position the machine so that the blade is 460 to 610 mm (18 to 24 inch) from the stationary object.
Engage the clutch pedal for the transmission and select the third gear forward. Raise the engine RPM to high idle and release the clutch pedal.Note: For the 120H through the 163H, engage the clutch pedal for the transmission and select the fourth gear forward. Raise the engine RPM to high idle and quickly release the clutch pedal.
The slip clutch for the circle drive should slip. If the slip clutch for the circle drive does not slip, the clutch needs to be adjusted.Note: Reduce the number of shims in order to tighten the slip clutch. Increase the number of shims in order to loosen the slip clutch.
If the slip clutch slipped in Step 6, repeat Step 5. If the slip clutch did not slip, make the required adjustments.
Repeat Step 3 and Step 4. Next, engage the clutch pedal for the transmission and select the fifth gear forward. Raise the engine RPM to high idle and release the clutch pedal. The slip clutch should not slip and the engine should stall.
