1. Make sure the gasket for the transmission and scavenge pump is in place. Fasten a hoist and put transmission and scavenge pump (1) in position on the torque converter housing and install the bolts that hold it in place. 2. Connect three oil lines (2) to the transmission and scavenge pump.3. start by:a) remove transmission and scavenge pump 1. Remove the nut and washer that hold gear (1) on the shaft. Use tool (A) to remove the gear from the shaft. Remove the key from the shaft. 2. Put identification on the pump so it will be assembled correctly. Remove bolts (2) and cover (3) from the pump. Remove the O-ring seal from the cover. 3. Remove pump body (5) for the scavenge pump. Put identification on gears (4) so they will be assembled in their original position. Remove scavenge pump gears (4) and the key from the shafts. 4. Remove manifolds (6) from the pump. Remove the O-ring seals and bearings from the manifold. 5. Remove drive gear (8) and idler gear (9) for the transmission pump. Remove pump body (7). 6. Remove bearings (10) and the O-ring seal from the manifold.Assemble Transmission And Scavenge Pump
1. Use tooling (A) to install the bearings in manifold (1) until they are .062 in. (1.6 mm) below the inside surface of the manifold. Make sure the joints in the bearings are at an angle of 30° 15° from the center line through the bearing bores in the manifold and toward the outlet passage (2) of the pump.2. Install the O-ring seal in groove (3) in the manifold. Put clean oil on the bearings and O-ring seal. 3. Install pump body (5) for the transmission pump on the manifold in its original position.4. Install idler gear (6) and drive gear (4) for the transmission pump as shown. 5. Use tooling (A) to install the bearings in manifold (7) until they are in the center of the manifold. Make sure the joints in the bearings are at an angle of 30° 15° from the center line through the bearing bores in the manifold and toward the outlet passage (8) of the pump.6. Install the O-ring seals in groove (9) on both sides of the manifold. Put clean oil on the O-ring seals and bearings. 7. Install manifold (7) on the pump in its original position as shown. 8. Install pump body (11) for the scavenge pump in its original position.9. Install the key on drive gear (4). Install gears (12) for the scavenge pump.10. Install the
