COMPONENT CODE 1062, 1061SUBJECT: NEW SHIPPING CONFIGURATION FOR 769D/771D OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS
PROBLEM:
The shipping company may remove the exhaust system muffler extension to comply with transportation width limits. When the machine engine is started the exhaust gases are directed against the under side of the body canopy resulting in heat and smoke damage to the paint. These problems occur during transportation when the machine engine may be started several times to load and unload the machine onto different modes of transport, i.e. road vehicle to ship.
SOLUTION:
The shipping configuration for 769D/771D Off-Highway Trucks has changed. The 102-8676 Extension Pipe is now installed to the muffler at the factory. The extension pipe turned forward. At field assembly, the extension pipe must be turned to the proper orientation.

1. Loosen the clamp.
2. Rotate 102-8676 Extension Pipe by 90 degrees.
3. Tighten the clamp to a torque of 25 ? 7 Nm (18.4 ? 5 lb ft).
