Information:
1. Put the bucket flat on the ground.2. Move the control lever on the lift circuit to FLOAT position.3. Shut off the diesel engine.
LOOSENING FILLER CAP
1. Filler cap.4. Move the control lever for lift to the HOLD position.5. Slowly loosen filler cap (1) on the hydraulic tank and release the pressure.6. Carefully loosen plugs (3) on swivel (2). Slowly release the pressure and tighten the two plugs (3).7. Put the filler cap back on the hydraulic tank.8. The pressure in the system has now been released and lines or components can be removed.

When the temperature of the hydraulic oil gets hotter than 210° F (98.8° C) polyurethane seals in the system start to fail. As the oil temperature gets hotter seal failure becomes more rapid. There are many reasons why the temperature of the oil will get this hot.1. Hydraulic pump is badly worn.2. Heavy hydraulic loads that cause the relief valve to open.3. The setting on the relief valve is too low.4. Too many restrictions in the system.5. Hydraulic oil level in the tank is too low.6. High pressure oil leak in one or more circuits.7. Very dirty oil.8. Air flow through the oil cooler core is too low.9. Oil flow through the oil cooler is too low.10. Air in the hydraulic oil.Any one of the above problems can be causing the oil to become too hot. Before using any test equipment make the following visual checks:1. Check the level of oil in the hydraulic tank.
If machine has been running, be careful when you remove the filler cap.
2. Remove and inspect the oil filter. Check the oil for dirt and foreign material.3. Check for air in the oil (aeration). Lower a small bottle down through the filler tube for the oil sample. If the oil is full of bubbles it is aerated. If the problem is because of air in the oil, it must be corrected before the system will operate at normal temperatures. There are two things that cause air in the oil (aeration).a. Return oil to the tank is going in above the level of the oil in the tank.b. Air is leaking in the oil suction line between the pump and the tank.If the oil level is correct, the system is not too dirty or aeration is not part of the problem, do the following procedures:1. Connect the 9S2000 Flow Meter into the system and make a tee-test. Follow the instructions in FLOW METER TEE TEST PROCEDURE IV, REG01145.2. Check the setting of the relief valve for the steering system. [Must be 2500 50 psi (175.8 3.5 kg/cm2)].3. Check the setting of the relief valve for the pilot system. [Must be 325 + 25 or - 0 psi (22.8 + 1.8 or - 0.00 kg/cm2)].4. If the problem cannot be found with the tee-test, install a 9S7373 Air Flow Meter.5. Check the flow of air through the oil cooler and radiator cores. Volume
