With the occurrence of a E194 logged event, the operator is warned of the derating of the engine by the illumination of the diagnostic lamp. The derates of the exhaust temperature are normal. The derates of the exhaust temperature occur most often when the machine is operating at high altitudes or at high temperatures. The strategy of derating is used to protect the engine, but derating should not alert the operator.Solution
Identify any conditions that contribute to the logged E194 event codes by using the troubleshooting procedures that are related to high exhaust temperatures. Follow the troubleshooting procedures that are related to high exhaust temperatures in order to resolve the problems. If the obvious conditions are not present then flash the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM) with software. The flash file 328-6012 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp contains the interim solution for this problem. The new 328-6012 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp is adaptable back to the first production of the listed machines.Note: The new software file will no longer illuminate the diagnostic lamp when the derates of the engine exhaust temperature occur. Engine derates and logged E194 events will still occur after the software update.
