The 6V4880 Hose Press Frame (Illustration 1) is the "press" part of the 6V4900 Hose Press Arrangement. It is similar to the former 5S2801 Hose Press Frame but has: - a longer stroke- a larger opening between tie rods- wider tooling openings between the fixed (can not be moved) and movable (can be moved) bolsters. With the former hose press frame it was possible for tooling or hose components to get in the way when the movable bolster was retracted.- a guard that is part of the clamping bar and screw (Illustration 2). The front tooling can no longer be clamped (held in position) without use of the guard as was possible with the former hose press.

6V4860 XT-5 Tool Group
To fabricate or recondition XT-5 hose assemblies, the 6V4860 Tool Group is needed, in addition to the 6V4880 Hose Press Frame and many tools from the 6V4900 Hose Press Arrangement. Included in the 6V4860 Tool Group are special hose remover tools for 19 mm (.75") I.D. and 25.4 mm (1.00") I.D. XT-5 hose (Illustration 3). These two sizes of XT-5 hose are the most difficult to remove from the coupling, when the coupling is to be used again. Use of these tools is explained in Special Instruction, "Use of 6V4900 Hydraulic Service Press Arrangement," Form SEHS7957-01. Because the new 6V4880 Hose Press is larger than the former hose press in almost all dimensions, it is not practical to install on a standard work bench. The new 6V4974 Hose Press Stand permits the hose press to be taken off the workbench and put anywhere in the shop. The foot switch and hydraulic pump can be fastened to the press stand, as shown in Illustration 4. Since the area under the stand is open, tooling and hose components can not fall between the bolsters and get in the way. If desired, the 6V4974 Hose Press Stand can be fabricated according to FT1643 drawings, available from your Division Service Manager. The hardware which follows is needed for assembly of either stand:
