Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Remove bolts (1). Remove the clamp assembly, the tube assembly, and the O-ring seal.
Remove bolts (2), flange (3), and the gasket.
Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil cooler (4). For 3512 Engines, the weight of engine oil cooler (4) is approximately 65 kg (143 lb). For 3516 Engines, the weight of engine oil cooler (4) is approximately 78 kg (172 lb).
Remove bolts (5).

Remove bolts (8) and bolts (9). Remove elbow (6), tube assembly (10), the gasket, and the O-ring seals.
Remove bolts (7) and engine oil cooler (4). Remove the O-ring seals from the tube assembly on the cooler bypass elbow. Installation Procedure
Install engine oil cooler (4) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply clean engine oil to the O-ring seals.
Tighten the bolts for the clamp assembly to the cooler bypass elbow first. Tighten the bolts for the clamp assembly to the tube assembly next. Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft).
