TM-4 The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4677" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
Although this Program can be administered either before or after a failure, it is recommended that it be administered after failure. Repair before failure should be administered only to customers with previous failures. Also, repair before failure requires approval from Caterpillar. Call Mike Watson at (317) 448-5690 for approval.
Parts should be removed from parts stock as soon as possible.

The 7W0912 Shaft Assembly used in the 7W0045 Auxiliary Water Pump on certain 3600 Family of Engines may fail at the tapered end of the shaft or at the inertia weld joint.

Parts Stock
Remove all 7W0912 Shaft Assemblies from parts stock.
Affected Product
Replace the 7W0912 Shaft Assembly, used in the 7W0045 Sea Water Pump Group, with the new 6I1840 Shaft. Also, replace the 8T1812 Bolt, 7W0896 Washer, 7C6540 Seal, and 7E4442 Seal Group.
