Connect the receptacle ends of the 444-7972 Monitor Harness As from the display upgrade kit to existing wiring harness formerly connected to the display.

Replace the Camera Harness (For Machines equipped with cameras viewable on the CMPD display).
Remove the camera harness completely by accessing the camera cable connections in the head liner or along the cab pillars, depending on application. Ensure that the camera connections are marked or disconnected on camera at a time to ensure that the correct cameras are available when the associated views are selected.

Camera 3 to camera 3
Camera 4 to camera 4
Install the new camera harness from the upgrade kit by connecting the camera cable ends to the correct machine end connection.
Install the Mounting Bracket for the desired machine application with the hardware removed during the CMPD mounting bracket removal.
Use four bolts and four washers provided in the upgrade kit, bracket kit, or ordered separately to mount the 459-2220 Electronic Control Gp to the Mounting Bracket Kit. Torque to 15 N m (11.06 lb ft).
Plug the 444-7972 Monitor Harness As into the 459-2220 Electronic Control Gp by connecting the:
Power connector to the power receptacle
Ethernet connector to the Ethernet receptacle
CDL connector to the CDL receptacle
Connect the Camera cable harness when required.

View after proper installation
Ensure that the display is properly adjusted and the system powers up when the machine key switch is turned to the on position.
Display hardware installation is now complete. If the display has been installed on a MineStar Onboard system, the 167-8984 Battery Gp (back-up battery) can be disconnected from the power feed to the display cab harness. Refer to note below. Install the required application software onto the display and configure as needed. For application software installation instructions refer to Special Instruction, M0065828, "Procedure for Installing Cat® MineStar Onboard Application Software on the Caterpillar Generation 4 Display".Note: The G407 no longer requires the installation of a system back-up battery when used with MineStar Onboard systems. If a 167-8984 Battery Gp (back-up battery) was installed with the CMPD, perform the procedure below to disconnect the battery and remove from the system.Remove Back-Up Battery (MineStar Onboard Only)
Locate the 167-8984 Battery Gp.
Disconnect the power connector and receptacle from the cab harness or fused harness and the power supply to back-up battery harness.
Remove the 167-8984 Battery Gp.
Connect the power supply harness directly to the cab harness or fused harness.
