Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System - Pressure Release/Charge".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Pressurized fluids can cause injury or death.Before disassembling any lines, controls, or accumulator, be sure that the pilot system hydraulic accumulator pressure is zero.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: For easier assembly, mark all hose assemblies, tube assemblies, wire harnesses and cables for identification purposes.
Apply the foot brake valve several times in order to relieve the pressure in the brake system.
Open the door assemblies behind the cab in order to access the brake accumulators.

Remove the cap from valve assembly (1). Install Tool (A) to the valve on the top of brake accumulator (2). Open the valve slowly. Slowly release the nitrogen gas pressure from the accumulator. Replace the cap on valve assembly (1) .

Attach Tool (B) to the top of brake accumulator (2). Position a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B). Secure the suitable lifting device to a hoist.
Remove two bolts (3) and the washers that secure brake accumulator (2) and the hose clamp to the top bracket on the right side of the engine end frame.

Disconnect tube assembly (5) from brake accumulator (2). Remove two bolts (4), the washers, and the nuts that secure brake accumulator (2) to the bottom bracket on the right side of the engine end frame.
Remove brake accumulator (2) from the bottom bracket on the right side of the engine end frame. The weight of brake accumulator (2) is 79 kg (175 lb).
Repeat Steps 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 in order to remove the remaining brake accumulator.
