Field service reports indicate that the 211-1854 Drive Shaft that runs through the oscillation hitch may fail due to cracking. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.Solution
Caterpillar is aware of the problem, but an interim repair has not yet been defined. Replace a failed drive shaft with the same part.If you have experienced this problem, refer to the following information.
Complete a failure analysis of the drive shaft
Complete a Product Status Report
Submit a Service Information Management System (SIMS) report. Attach photos of the failed drive shaft to the SIMS report.
Submit a Dealer Solution Network (DSN) ticket quoting CPI number 393353
Request that the Tier 1 representative, transfer your ticket to an available Tier 2 representative for Caterpillar Underground Mining - Base Machine
The Tier 2 representative will request the machine serial number and machine operating hours
