Information:
Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
At the J1 harness connector for the "auxiliary control pod", insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the contact for the power supply 1 (wire 709-OR(Orange)) and along contact for the ground 3 (wire A295-BK(Black)). Do not disconnect the machine harness from the J1 connector.
Measure the DC voltage of the sensor power supply. Expected Result:The voltage measurement is approximately 10.0 0.4 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage measurement is approximately 10.0 0.4 VDC. The power supply for the sensor is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage measurement is less than 10.0 0.4 VDC. The power supply for the sensor is not correct. Repair: Either the ground circuit wire for the sensor A295-BK(Black) or the supply wire 709-OR(Orange) has a bad connection or an open in the machine harness. Examine all of the connectors that are in the circuit. Ensure that the connections are clean, that the connections are secure and that the connections are in good condition. Refer to the CID 1482 procedures in this manual for troubleshooting the 10 VDC power supply. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE SENSOR CIRCUIT
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector J1 from the "auxiliary control pod". At the machine harness connector J1 for the pod, connect a jumper wire between the return contact for the sensor J1-3 (wire A295-BK(Black)) and the signal contact J1-5 (wire U708-OR(Orange)).
Disconnect machine harness connector J1 from the Implement ECM. Disconnect machine harness connector J2 from the Implement ECM 2.
At the harness connectors for the ECM modules, measure the resistance from return contact of the Implement ECM J1-70 (wire A295-BK(Black)) to the signal contact for the Implement ECM 2J2-17 (wire U708-OR(Orange)).
Observe the resistance measurement of the multimeter and wiggle the machine harness connectors for the Implement ECM 2. Pull on the wires and wiggle the wires.
Observe the resistance measurement of the multimeter and wiggle the machine harness connector J1 for the "auxiliary control pod". Pull on the wires and wiggle the wires. Do not disconnect the jumper wire. Expected Result:The measurement of the resistance is less than 5 ohms at all times during the manipulation of the harness and the connectors.Results:
OK - The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. The sensor circuit is not open. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The measurement of the resistance is greater than 5 ohms. There is an open connection or a bad connection in the signal circuit.Repair: Refer to the complete Electrical System Schematic of the machine. Check all of the connectors that are in the sensor signal circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, that all connections are secure and that all connections are in good condition. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.

Disconnect the machine harness connector J1 from the "auxiliary control pod". At the machine harness connector J1 for the pod, connect a jumper wire between the return contact for the sensor J1-3 (wire A295-BK(Black)) and the signal contact J1-5 (wire U708-OR(Orange)).
Disconnect machine harness connector J1 from the Implement ECM. Disconnect machine harness connector J2 from the Implement ECM 2.
At the harness connectors for the ECM modules, measure the resistance from return contact of the Implement ECM J1-70 (wire A295-BK(Black)) to the signal contact for the Implement ECM 2J2-17 (wire U708-OR(Orange)).
