Two types of track roller may be used on this machine.

Center Flange Track Roller
Use this procedure to assemble either track roller.
Thoroughly clean all parts of the track roller prior to assembly. Note: Do not reuse bearings (9). Use new parts for replacement.

Lower the temperature of bearings (9), and install one in each end of the track roller with a press. Install the bearings until the bearings make contact with the counterbore in the track roller.
Use the following procedure to determine the shaft end play. Note: Do not install the Duo-Cone seal kit in the track roller or the end collars at this time.Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seals that are used on shaft (4). If the seals are damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install an O-ring seal (6) on shaft (4) at the end that has the spring pin hole. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean oil.

Lubricate the bore in end collar (8) with clean oil. Use a press to install shaft (4) in end collar (8). Be sure that the spring pin hole in the shaft is aligned with the spring pin hole in the end collar. Install dowel (2) in the end collar.

Install shaft (4) in track roller (7) without the Duo-cone seal kits. Install end collar (3) without the Duo-cone seal kits. Install dowel (2) in end collar (3).
Use Tooling (B) to measure the end play of shaft (4). The end play of the shaft must be 0.04 mm (0.002 inch) to 1.34 mm (0.053 inch). Bearings (9) control the amount of shaft end play.
Disassemble the track roller, but do not remove shaft (4) from end collar (8). Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, "Duo-Cone Conventional Seals - Install" for more information.Note: The rubber seals and all surfaces that make contact with the seals must be clean and dry. After installation of the seals, apply clean SAE 30 oil on the contact surfaces of the metal seals.

Install a Duo-cone seal kit (5) in each end of the track roller (7) with Tooling (A).

Install Duo-cone seal kit (5) in end collar (8) with Tooling (A).

Install Duo-cone seal kit (5) in end collar (3) with Tooling (A).
Illustration 10 g00546035Note: Do not damage the Duo-cone seal kits during installation of the shaft in the track roller or during installation of end collar (3).
Install shaft (4) with end collar (8) in track roller (7).
Install O-ring seal (6) in the groove on the end of shaft (4). Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean oil.
Lubricate the bore in end collar (3) with clean oil.

Put the track roller in a press. Install end collar (3) on the end of shaft (4). Push down on end collar (3) with the press, and install dowel (2).

Put the track roller in a vertical position. Fill the track roller with 70 5 mL (2.38 0.17 oz) of the oil that is specified in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
