ON - Insert the key, and turn it clockwise to activate the electrical system. The switch must be on before starting the engine. OFF - Turn the key counterclockwise to shut off the entire electrical system.Turn the disconnect switch off and remove the key when servicing the electrical system or other components on the machine.Turn the battery disconnect switch key to OFF and remove the key when leaving the machine for an extended period of a month or longer. This will prevent battery drain by short circuits or current draw made by some of the components, or by vandalism.
Never turn the disconnect key to OFF with the engine running. Electrical system damage could result.
Engine Start Switch
ON (1) - The starter clutch is disengaged. START (2) - Turn the switch clockwise to START to crank the engine. The switch returns to the ON position when released.Starting Aid (If Equipped)
Starting Aid - Push the knob in. When released, a premeasured amount of ether injects into the air intake.
Inject ether ONLY while cranking the engine. Use the ether sparingly. Excessive ether can cause piston and ring damage. Use when temperatures are below 0°C (+32°F) and for cold weather starting purposes only. Refer to Engine Starting for further information.
Indicators and Gauges
Service Hour Meter (1) - Indicates the total operating hours of the engine. It should be used to determine service hour maintenance intervals. Engine Coolant Temperature (2) - Indicates the temperature of the engine coolant. Normal operating temperatures are between 100° and 120°C (212° and 248°F) (in the green range). Engine Oil Pressure (3) - Normal operating pressure is in the green range. If not in the green range within 30 seconds after starting, pull the accelerator pedal back to stop the engine and investigate the cause.Have any necessary repairs made before returning the machine to service. Air Pressure (4) - Indicates the air pressure in the air reservoirs in kPa (psi). Normal operating pressure is above 450 kPa (65 psi). Ammeter (5) - Indicates the charging rate of the alternator. The normal operating rate is 0 to the + side of the gauge. Torque Converter Oil Temperature (6) - Indicates the temperature of the torque converter oil. Normal operating temperature is in the green range. Brake Failure (7) - The alert indicator will come on to indicate the cylinder group has gone full stroke. This may be due to air in the oil lines or low brake fluid in brake reservoir.An alarm will sound if the air pressure is low and the parking brake will engage if air pressure continues to drop.Light Switch
OFF (1) - Turn the switch clockwise to shut off the lights. Panel Lights (2) - Turn the switch counterclockwise to the first position to turn on the panel lights. Operating Lights (3) - Turn the switch counterclockwise to the second position to turn on the operating lights.Windshield Wiper/Washer
