COVER AS-VALVE 2477799 - Caterpillar

Always wear goggles when the air conditioning system is opened. This system is charged with Freon-12 (CCL2F2-Dichlorodifluoromethane) which is not toxic or flammable. There is however, reason for caution. When Freon-12 makes contact with a flame, lethal phosgene gas is made. INHALING FREON THROUGH A LIGHTED CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS. This system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. HEAT MUST NEVER BE APPLIED TO A CHARGED SYSTEM.
1. Remove upper panel (1) and the panel below it.
992C SHOWN2. Disconnect air conditioning lines (2) and (4) and heater hoses (3). Disconnect wires (5) on the 992C only.
Do not start the machine after the hoses have been disconnected.
3. Remove bolts (6) and then remove panel (7). 4. Remove twelve caps (8) from around the front and rear ledges of the cab. Remove the bolts, nuts and washers that are under the caps. 5. Open the window on the right side of the cab and remove cap (8). Remove the bolt and washers from in the hole. 6. Open the cab door and remove two caps (9) and the bolts and washers behind the caps. Remove three screws and cover (10) across the door step, then remove the bolt and washer from the door step.
988B ONLY7. For the 988B only, remove the bolts that hold the seat in place and move it forward. Disconnect the wiring harness at connector (11) and pull it from under the seat platform.8. Remove the windshield wiper arm and blade. When Steps 3 through 8 are done, there must be a total of sixteen bolts that have been removed.
988B SHOWN9. Install four 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts on the top of the cab.
992C SHOWN10. Fasten a hoist to the eyebolts and lift the cab so it clears the steering wheel. Then remove the cab from the machine. The weight of the cab is 750 lb. (343 kg).Install Cab

992C SHOWN1. Install four 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts on top of the cab. Fasten a hoist to the eyebolts. Lift the cab into position over the steering wheel and on to the operator's platform. There are three locating pins in three locations that must be in alignment with the cab. 2. Install one bolt and washer (1) at the bottom and inside of door frame. Install two bolts and washers (2) in the rear outside panel of the door frame. 3. Install plate (3) at bottom of door frame with three screws. Install two caps (4) over the two holes in door frame. 4. Install bolt and lockwasher (5) in hole (6) under the window. Then install cap (7) in hole (6). 5. Install ten bolts (8), lockwashers and nuts (9) in the front and rear ledges of cab. Install the bolts and washers on the left and right sides of the seat. Then install all of the caps over the bolts.6. Install the panel below the front window with five bolts.
988B ONLY7. On the 988B only, pull the wire harness for the cab through
