COVER AS 2855784 - Caterpillar

1. Disconnect brake cooling lines (1) and (3).2. Disconnect service brake line (2). 3. Remove mounting bolts from brake line bracket (4) and move line away from brake assembly. 4. Remove brake mounting nuts (5).5. Install two 1/2" - 13 NC forged eyebolts, attach hoist, and remove rear brake assembly - weight 950 lbs. (431 kg).Install Rear Brake Assembly
1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the brake assembly and rear spindle. 2. Install brake assembly on spindle. Tighten retaining nuts to 320 15 lb. ft. (44.2 2.8 mkg).3. Connect brake cooling lines and service brake line to brake assembly.4. Secure brake line bracket to rear axle housing.5. After machine is reassembled, bleed air from service brakes.concluding step: a) install rear brake sealsDisassemble Rear Brake
preparatory step: a) remove brake assembly1. Position brake assembly with the anchor side up. 2. Remove retaining bolts (1), and separate anchor assembly from housing using two 1/2" - 13NC forcing screws.3. Install two 1/2" - 13NC forged eyebolts, attach hoist, and remove anchor assembly from housing. 4. Position anchor assembly with the piston side up. 5. The piston is retained to the housing and retracted by pins (2) and (3). To remove the piston, pins (2) must be fully extended against the return springs, and pins (3) must be pulled from pins (2). 6. Extend the piston and compress the return springs by installing three 3/8" - 16NC forcing screws in the piston. 7. Extend the piston far enough to install cotter pins (4) in return pins. The cotter pins will prevent the return pins from being pulled back into the housing when the forcing screws are removed. 8. Remove the forcing screws and gently drive the piston back into the housing. 9. The retaining pins will extend above the face of the piston and can be easily removed. 10. Remove the piston from the anchor assembly. 11. Remove housing (5) from the anchor. 12. Compress return springs with tools (A) and a 5/8" nut, and remove cotter pins. Remove return pins and springs from housing. 13. Remove plates and discs from housing using glass seal installers, tool (B). 14. Attach hoist and remove ring gear from housing. 15. Turn housing over and remove plate (6) from housing.Assemble Rear Brake
1. Install plate on housing. Tighten retaining bolts to 90 5 lb. ft. (12,4 0,7 mkg). 2. Turn housing over and install ring gear. 3. Install brake discs and plates as follows: a. Install the first plate with the dark brown side against the brake hub.b. Alternately install red discs and plates.c. Install the final plate with the dark brown side against the brake piston. 4. Install springs and pins in housing using tool (A). 5. Install housing in anchor assembly. 6. Install seals on brake piston and install piston in anchor assembly. 7. Install return pin retainers. 8. Preload return springs with forcing screws, and remove cotter pins (4). 9. Install anchor assembly on housing.concluding step: a) install brake assembly
