Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, " Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Remove the front hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, " Hood (Front) - Remove and Install". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, thoroughly clean the exterior of the component, preventing dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies, helping to prevent fluid loss, and keeping contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Attach a suitable lifting device to handrail (1). The weight of handrail (1) is approximately 30 kg (65 lb).

Remove eight bolts (2) and handrail (1) from the radiator header tank.

Remove six clips (3). Cut the three cable straps that hold harness assembly (6). Disconnect harness assembly (6).
Disconnect hose assemblies (4), (5), (7) and (8). Cut the two cable straps that hold hose assembly (8).

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to radiator header tank (9). The weight of radiator header tank (9) is approximately 90 kg (200 lb).
Disconnect hose assembly (11).
Remove nine bolts (10) and radiator header tank (9).
