Exciter Field Pole Removal And Installation
1. Remove the armature.2. Disconnect the wires from the field pole to be removed, noting how the wires are connected.3. Remove the bolts (1) that hold the field poles (4) to the exciter frame. Mark the shims (3) so they can be installed in the same position.4. Remove the coil from the pole.5. Inspect the insulation for wear or cracking and replace it if necessary.6. The commutating poles (2) can be removed after removing the field poles from both sides of the commutating pole.
REMOVING FIELD POLES
1. Bolt. 2. Commutating pole. 3. Shim. 4. Field pole.7. Install in the reverse order of removal.8. Connect the wires as illustrated.
EXCITER CONNECTIONS
2. Commutating poles. 4. Field poles. A1 and A2. Armature leads. F1 and F2. Shunt field leads. S1 and S2. Control field leads.
