Lower the temperature of bearing cup (36). Install bearing cup (36) into bearing cage assembly (35).Note: Do not install O-ring seal (37) at this time.

With the axis of the pump in a vertical position, install bearing cage assembly (35) in the transfer case assembly. Do not add the shim pack or the O-ring seal at this time. Make sure that bearing cage assembly (35) does not bind with the transfer case assembly.
Install the washers and two bolts (33) in opposite corners of bearing cage assembly (35). Tighten bolts (33) finger tight until bearing cage assembly (35) contacts the transfer gear case assembly.
Alternately tighten each bolt (33) by 1/4 turn or less until a torque of 14 N m (11 lb ft) has been applied to each bolt (33).
Rotate the shaft for a minimum of three revolutions. Rotate the shaft until the rolling resistance diminishes to a steady level.
Alternately tighten each bolt (33) by 1/4 turn or less until a torque of 14 N m (11 lb ft) has been applied to each bolt (33).
Repeat Steps 39 and 40 until the rolling resistance does not change. Repeat Steps 39 and 40 until the 14 N m (11 lb ft) torque does not move the bolts.
Loosen bolts (33) evenly. Tighten bolts (33) finger tight. Do not move any other parts.
Use a tapered feeler gauge to measure the gap between the bearing cage flange and the main housing in four places. Average the four measurements. Add 0.03 to 0.08 mm (0.001 inch to 0.003 inch) to the average dimension. Record the result.
Remove two bolts (33) and bearing cage assembly (35) from the transfer gear case assembly. Install O-ring seal (37) onto bearing cage assembly (35). Assemble bearing cage assembly (35) with the number of shims that was determined in Step 43. Install bolts (33).

Lower the temperature of bearing cup (32). Install bearing cup (32) into bearing cage assembly (28).Note: Allow all components to reach a uniform temperature. Use a 0.038 mm (0.0015 inch) feeler gauge to ensure that bearing cup (32) is fully seated.

With the axis of the input gear in a vertical position, install bearing cage (28) onto the transfer gear case assembly. Do not add the shim pack at this time. Make sure that bearing cage (28) does not bind on the transfer gear case assembly.
Install the washers and two bolts (29) directly across from each other in bearing cage (28). Tighten bolts (29) finger tight until bearing cage (28) contacts the flange.
Alternately tighten each bolt (29) by 1/4 turn or less until a torque of 28
