Schematic of the Travel AlarmThis diagnostic code is associated with the travel alarm. The FMI 06 means that the machine ECM has determined that the current is above normal.Note: This diagnostic code is only active when the travel alarm is on or the "travel alarm override function" has been enabled in ET V3.2 or later. The possible causes of this failure are listed here:
The travel alarm circuit is shorted to ground.
The travel alarm has failed.
The machine ECM has failed. This is unlikely.When this failure occurs, a warning is displayed on the message center. The travel alarm will not sound when this failure is present. Note: The following test procedure may create other failures. Ignore these created failures and clear the failures when the original failure is corrected. Test Step 1. CHECK THE TRAVEL ALARM.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the engine.
Ensure that the service code CID 0376 FMI 06 is active on the message center.
Disconnect the travel alarm from the machine harness.
Observe the message center. Expected Result:The diagnostic code CID 0376 FMI 06 has changed to CID 0376 FMI 03. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code CID 0376 FMI 06 has changed to CID 0376 FMI 03. The circuit is correct. Repair: Replace the travel alarm. Stop.
NO - The failure remains active. Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness from the travel alarm.
Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the machine ECM.
At the machine harness connector J1, measure the resistance from contact J1-37 (wire 321-BR) to all possible source of ground. Expected Result:The resistance measurements should be greater than 5000 ohms.Results:
OK - The resistance measurements were greater than 5000 ohms. The harness is correct. Proceed to test step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is less than 5000 ohms. The harness is incorrect. The short is between the signal circuit (wire 321-BR) and the circuit with the lowest resistance measurement.Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK IF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE REMAINS.
Inspect the harness connectors and clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the disconnect switch and the key start switch to the ON position.
Clear all the active events on the message center by pressing the "OK" key.
Operate the machine.
Observe the message center. Expected Result:The diagnostic code CID 0376 FMI 06 is no longer active on the message center. Results:
YES - The diagnostic code CID 0376 FMI 06 is no longer active on the message center. The failure does not exist at this time. Repair: The initial failure was probably caused by a poor electrical connection or a short at one of the harness connections that was disconnected and reconnected. Resume normal machine operation. Stop.
NO - The diagnostic code CID 0376 FMI 06 is active on the message center. The failure has not been
