Service mode indicator (10) has been added and the ARC now performs the engine overspeed function. Earlier, later, and current are referred to throughout this module.
Earlier refers to the ARC without a service mode indicator (10).
Later refers to an ARC that has a service mode indicator (10) and the engine overspeed function.
Current refers to the ARC with a service mode indicator (10), the engine overspeed function, and no set and clear switches. A service tool is required in order to access any other mode except for the normal mode.Note: On the current machines, a service tool is required to access any other mode except for the normal mode. The service tool must be used to access the diagnostic information. Also, a service tool is needed in order to perform the functions of the service switches. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Service Tools" for any other additional information.There are ten different modes of operation for the display on the ARC. Each mode shows or each mode allows the programming of important information. Service personnel access this diagnostic information by entering the corresponding display modes. The different display modes are identified by the mode number which is shown on readout (9) .The following list shows the ten different display modes.

Functional Test Mode (Mode 9)The service switches for the Earlier and Later machine are located in the rear compartment, near the ARC or on the ARC. This provides access in order to operate the set and clear switches. When the set switch is activated the switch grounds the set input. When the clear switch is activated the switch grounds the clear input. Once the key switch is turned ON the display shows the information from the self test. The ARC will change into the normal mode after the self test is completed. In order to enter a different display mode, the set and clear switches are pressed and held at the same time. This will cause the mode numbers 0 through 9 to scroll on the readout (9). When the switches are released the display enters the mode which corresponds to the number that is presently shown.Note: This is only on later and current machines. The service mode indicator (10) is "ON" whenever the ARC is not in the normal mode.The display mode can be changed at any time on the earlier and/or later machines.
