Note: A new 355-8330 Engine Harness As is now used in production that has the breakout for the coolant pressure sensor. The effectivity is FDB01262.Use the procedure below in order to install the new pressure sensor group. This procedure uses the new harness along with the existing harness.Installation Procedure
Drain the coolant from the engine.

(1) Coolant flow switch
Remove the existing coolant flow switch (1). Use the 3E-3364 Receptacle and the two 8T-8737 Seal Plugs in order to cap the harness plug that was attached to the coolant flow switch. Refer to Illustration 1.
Install the 205-4821 Cover, the 4N-3841 Gasket, the 0S-1617 , and the 9M-1974 Hard Washer in the place of the coolant flow switch.

Remove pipe plug (2) .
Install the new 218-3840 Pressure Sensor Gp, the 6V-9027 O-Ring Seal, and the 3E-7448 Connector in place of pipe plug (2). Torque for the sensor ... 10 2 N m (7.4 1.5 lb ft)
Connect the new 353-4498 Engine Harness As to the new coolant pressure sensor.
Route the new wiring harness along the current engine wiring harness to the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Loosely strap the new wiring harness to the existing engine wiring harness with 3S-2093 Cable Straps and 9X-6772 Cable Straps .
Remove wire 997-OR from P1-2 of the engine ECM connector.
Remove wire 993-BR from P1-3 of the engine ECM connector.
Install the wires that were removed in Step 8 and Step 9 into the blank connector on the 353-4498 Engine Harness As. Refer to Illustration 3.

Install wire E402-YL from the 353-4498 Engine Harness As into the ECM connector P1-24. Install wire 997-OR into P1-2 of the ECM connector and install wire 993-BR into P1-3 of the ECM connector. Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of the wires in the ECM connectors that are associated with the circuit.
Ensure that the 353-4498 Engine Harness As is properly supported. The harness must be free of all possible points for rubbing.
Secure the harness assembly with the tie straps.
Refill the engine coolant.
Flash the new software part numbers that are referenced in Table 2 into the engine ECM.Note: Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) that is version 2009C or newer must be used.

Ensure that the coolant pressure sensor is marked as "Installed" in Cat ET. This value can be found by clicking "Configuration" and then clicking "Engine Configuration Parameters".
Start the truck and ensure that the value for the coolant pressure is visible in the Cat ET status screen and that no faults exist.Event Code and Diagnostic Codes
After the coolant pressure sensor and the new software are installed, the following codes can be generated if there is a problem:
2112-1 Low Engine Coolant Pressure
2302-3 Engine Block Coolant Outlet Pressure Sensor : Voltage Above Normal
2302-4 Engine Block Coolant Outlet Pressure Sensor : Voltage Below Normal
