During assembly, the front face of the flywheel housing and the rear face of the cylinder block must be free of following substances: Oil, fuel, water, gasket adhesive, assembly compounds, and any other foreign material. Apply ultra blue Loctite 587 to seal the joints between the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the oil pan joint.
1 5 165-3931 Bolt Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts of the flywheel housing:
1.Tighten bolt 1 through bolt 9 in the numerical sequence as shown in Illustration 2 to 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft) in the numerical sequence.
2. Tighten bolt 10 through bolt 24 in the numerical sequence as shown in Illustration 2 to 40 10 N m (30 7 lb ft) in the numerical sequence.
3. Again, tighten bolt 1 through bolt 9 in the numerical sequence as shown in Illustration 2 to 135 20 N m (100 15 lb ft) in the numerical sequence.
4. Again, tighten bolt 10 through bolt 24 in the numerical sequence as shown in Illustration 2 to 55 10 N m (41 7 lb ft) in the numerical sequence.

5 1 7X-7731 Pipe Plug The pipe plug must not protrude above the surface after assembly.
6 3 5F-0304 Plug Torque to 35 14 N m (26 10 lb ft).
