Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or hot components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
If the oil becomes contaminated, premature component failure could result. Contaminated oil can also contribute to overheating. Use the following procedure to sample the oil in the system.
Warm the oil. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" for information on warming the oil.
Run the engine at low idle.

Draw a 50 mL (1.7 fl oz) oil sample from each sampling valve . The level of contaminants must be no higher than the values in ISO 18/15. Oil samples can also be obtained through the filler tube for the tank.
