Save these instructions. This manual contains important instructions that must be followed during operation and installation of the Universal Maintenance Bypass Controller (UMBC) product.Service personnel and test equipment must be on rubber mats when performing maintenance on energized equipment. The service personnel must wear insulating shoes for isolation from direct contact with the floor (earth ground). Unless all power is removed from the equipment, one person must never work alone. A second person must be standing by to assist and summon help in case an accident occurs.The installation and use of this product must comply with all national codes and local codes that are applicable.Keep the unit dry during shipping, during storage, and during operation. Remove all packing material before energizing the system.The controller contains hazardous AC and DC voltages. The controller must be installed, operated, and serviced only by trained and qualified personnel. The controller must be installed in accordance with all national and local regulations and electrical codes.In a fire involving electrical equipment, only carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, or others extinguishers approved for use in electrical fire fighting, must be used. Any test equipment that is used, must be designated for troubleshooting, including oscilloscopes. Always check the system with an AC voltmeter and a DC voltmeter to ensure safety before touching or using other tools.Safety Symbols, Labels, and Signs

The universal warnings shown in Illustration 1 means that the manual for this product must be read.There are warning signs and labels affixed to the system. Service personal must become familiar with all warning signs and labels. Use the following guidelines to keep signs and warnings accessible.
Ensure that all warning signs are legible. Clean the warning signs or replace the warning signs if the words cannot be read or if the illustrations are not visible. Use a cloth, water, and soap to clean the warning signs. Do not use solvents, gasoline, or other harsh chemicals. Solvents, gasoline, or harsh chemicals could loosen the adhesive that secures the warning signs. The warning signs that are loosened could drop off the system.
Replace any warning sign that is damaged or missing. If a warning sign is attached to a part of the system that is replaced, install a new warning sign on the replacement part. Contact the technical communicator at the dealership for new warning signs and labels.
