Media Contact Board
Illustration 2 g02358754
Media contact boardEach "Media Contacts 11" board is equipped with terminals XR2, XR3, XR4, and XR5. The terminals can be used to receive input signals from UPS equipment. The same terminals can also be used to transmit signals concerning the operating status of the UPS.Input Signals
Input signals must be provided by "dry" contacts, that is, no voltage is required. The "Media Contacts 11" board provides the electrical signal.Emergency Off - The emergency off is a normally closed contact that causes following actions:
Shutdown of the inverter
Shutdown of the rectifier/charger
Opens the battery circuit breaker
Blocks the static bypass
activates a relay contact on the "Media Contacts 11" boardBattery Room Ventilation Fault - The battery room ventilation fault is a normally open contact that causes the following action:
Shutdown of the rectifier/chargerBattery Circuit Breaker "QF1" Closed - The battery circuit breaker "QF1" closed is a normally open contact that prevents the following action:
Inverter startup if the circuit breaker is openBattery Temperature - The battery temperature input originates from a PC board that is placed near the battery. The PC board supplies information on the battery temperature. The input enables the rectifier/charger to regulate the battery voltage.Auxiliary Signals - The configuration of selected settings for the auxiliary input will determine the actions that are controlled. The options are shown in the following list:
Forced inverter shutdown regardless of the status of the bypass AC source
Protected inverter shutdown with the load transferred to the bypass AC source
Limiting of the current drawn by the rectifier/charger (programmable value) when supplied by a generator set with an insufficient power rating. The additional power required by the inverter is supplied by a battery that discharges.
Limiting of the battery charge current (programmable value) if the normal AC source is replaced by a generator set with an insufficient power rating.Output Signals
An auxiliary 24 V power supply is used for output signals. The 24 V power supply is isolated and backed up. The power supply is used for the following:
Undervoltage release of the QF1 battery circuit breaker
Power to the board that measures the temperature in the battery roomLow Battery - The low battery warning indicates that battery time is about to run out. The warning threshold can be personalized. The input for the low battery must be a dry voltage contact.Load on UPS - The load on UPS input indicates that the load is supplied by the inverter. For a single-UPS unit, one dry voltage contact may be used to indicate that the load is supplied by the bypass AC source. The input for the load on UPS input must be a dry voltage contact.Load on Battery Power - Load on battery power signal indicates that the inverter is supplied by the battery in the following cases:
Normal AC source outage or voltage drop
Rectifier/charger shutdown
Rectifier/charger current limitingThe input for the load on battery input must be a dry voltage contact. The load on battery power signal can be used to initiate the processes saving procedures and shutdown procedures. The load on battery power
