Typical example (1) Engine speed sensors (2) Flywheel ring gearUse the following procedure in order to adjust the clearance between the flywheel ring gear and the engine speed sensors.
While the engine is stopped, check the position of the gear tooth. Ensure that the tooth of the flywheel ring gear is centered in the opening for the engine speed sensor.
Install the engine speed sensor. Ensure that the engine speed sensor is in contact with the tooth of the flywheel ring gear.Note: Some engine speed sensors have flat bottoms and some engine speed sensors have small tips. If the engine speed sensor has a small tip, ensure that the tip contacts the center (highest point) of the gear tooth.
Unscrew the engine speed sensor .Unscrew the engine speed sensor to the following amount. ... 1 to 1 1/4 turns
Tighten the locknut.Tighten the locknut to the following torque. ... 45 7 N m (33 5 lb ft)The adjusted clearance should be the following range. ... 1.69 0.14 mm (0.067 0.006 inch)
