Component Code 7490SUBJECT: PROCEDURE FOR RESETTING THE OPTIONAL MACHINE INFORMATION
DISPLAY SYSTEM (MIDS) ON THE ABOVE ENGINES
PROBLEM:
The MIDS is an option on the above G3600 Engines. A locked-up MIDS display panel may generate a screen display of "!-New Software Required".
SOLUTION:
Open the MIDS control panel door and locate the harness assembly for the display panel. The "locked-up" condition can be cleared by disconnecting and then reconnecting MIDS display harness assembly that is on the back of the display panel.
Note: The MIDS display panel harness assembly can be disconnected while the engine is in operation. The MIDS display panel harness assembly can also be disconnected while the MIDS control panel is powered-up.
This technique can also be used if the MIDS display appears to be operating abnormally.
If disconnecting and reconnecting the MIDS display harness assembly does not resolve the problem, attempt to re-flash the MIDS software. Ensure that all wire connections are properly installed prior to replacing the MIDS display.
