Reference: Engine News, SEBD9282, "New Control Strategy Improvements For G3600 Engines"The postlube cycle was extended to 3 minutes for all G3600 Engines that are used in gas compression. The postlube cycle provides lubricating oil to the turbocharger bearings when the engine is shutdown. See the Reference Article.The personality module disables the postlube cycle if the engine experiences an Emergency Stop. This feature is intended to prevent the pumping of oil from an engine that has experienced an Emergency Stop.The turbocharger bearings can be damaged if the Emergency Stop Button is used repeatedly for normally stopping the engine. The operation and maintenance manuals recommend the following shutdown procedures for a normal engine shutdown.
Remove the input from Terminal 373.
Turn the Mode Control Switch to the STOP position.An Emergency Stop should only be initiated by the following events.
Depressing the Emergency Stop Button
An engine overspeed condition
An input from an emergency shutoff device that is supplied by the customerCompliance with the above guidelines will help prevent damage to the turbocharger bearings.
