(5) 9W3897 Clutch Piston.Also, two lubrication passages (8) in 3T0053 Balance Piston Assembly (2) may become clogged with debris and restrict oil flow. The location of balance piston assembly (2) is shown in Illustration 1.
Illustration 2. (6) Passages in 9G9571 Planetary Carrier. (7) Orifice.Thoroughly clean and inspect the lubrication passages whenever the transmission is disassembled due to a debris generating failure. Use the following method to clean and inspect the passages.
1. Use pressurized air to blow any debris from passages (6) in planetary carrier. See Illustration 2. After blowing out the passages, visually inspect the passages (from both directions) with a light to make sure the passages are clear.2. Blow any debris from passages (8) in balance piston assembly. Visually check the passages for any remaining debris. See Illustration 3.
