Fouled channel plates (Water side)
Fouled channel plates of the engine oil cooler on the water side will result in a higher pressure drop across the engine oil cooler. The rated pressure drop of the engine oil cooler is 8.5 kPa (34 inch of H2O) (water side).Use the following procedure in order to measure the differential pressure across the engine oil cooler.
Run the engine at rated speed until the coolant temperature stabilizes.
Connect the high pressure connection of a differential pressure gauge to the coolant inlet of the engine oil cooler. Connect the low pressure connector of the differential pressure gauge to the coolant outlet of the engine oil cooler.
Measure the differential pressure across the engine oil cooler (water side).
If the differential pressure exceeds 9 kPa (36 inch of H2O), disassemble the engine oil cooler and clean the engine oil cooler.
