Torque for all 1/2 in. locknuts that hold rod ends in place on the rods 45 7 N m (33 5 lb.ft.) Brake must be in the RELEASE position when adjustments are made.1. Make adjustments to the length of rod (1) to get dimension (A) of 976 3 mm (38.4 .1 in.) between centers of pins.2. Make adjustments to the length of rod (3) to get a dimension of 422 3 mm (16.6 .1 in.) between centers of pins.3. Make adjustments to the length of rod (5) to get dimension (B) of 333.0 1.5 mm (13.11 .06 in.) between centers of pins.4. Tighten nut assembly (brake adjusting screw) (4) until brake band (6) fits tightly around brake drum. Tightening torque is 45 7 N m (33 5 lb.ft.)5. Loosen locknut (8) and turn brake band support screw (7) in until it makes contact with the brake band. Do not tighten too much.6. Turn brake band support screw (7) backward (out) one turn and tighten locknut (8).7. Loosen nut assembly (brake adjusting screw) (4) to get 100 to 112 mm (3.9 to 4.4 in.) free travel of brake pedal (approximately three turns).8. Install spring (9) so it is 168 mm (6.6 in.) long after installation.9. Follow Steps 1 through 8 for the other side. When installing the brake band assembly, adjust the height of the damper springs (10) to dimension (C) of 19.05 mm (.750 in.) and tighten locknut.
