PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
The following test procedure is for the machine after applying CPI387678 or CPI377708 (for ADSD) and CPI377708 (for EAME/APD) instructions.
Test Procedure:
1. Place machine on level ground.
2. Bring machine up to a hydraulic oil temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
3. Attach a suitable weight or load to the front of machine using a suitable lifting device in order to create more than 30,000 kPa (4350 psi) at boom cylinder head pressure or 80% of lifting capacity with front linkage in maximum position.
Boom cylinder head pressure can be seen with the monitor per the following: Service Mode >> Status >> All Available Parameters >> Machine ECM Inputs >> Boom Cylinder Head Pressure.
a. Use Cat ET to Datalog the machine capturing the following parameters.
i. Boom Down Pilot Pressure
ii. Boom Cylinder Head Pressure
iii. Pump #1 Output Pressure
iv. Pump #2 Output Pressure
v. Pump #1 NFC Control Pressure
vi. Pump #2 NFC Control Pressure
vii. Hydraulic oil temperature
b. Capture a video of the test setup and boom down hesitation.
c. Attempt to modulate down.
i. Repeat 10 times to confirm consistency of issue.
ii. Override the Boom Down Regen solenoid valve to 0 PSI. Test and document results.
4. Place the suspended weight and front back on ground and position machine in a Service Position. Release the hydraulic pressure. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, for additional information.
5. Once all of the above test and parts replacement has been completed, and the same conditions is observed, then create a GDSN Product Health Service Request with this publication mentioned in the descriptions then attach the datalogger and video (as outlined in step 3) prior to submitting to Caterpillar.
6. For a machine with no other option other than the whole main control valve body replacement, refer to the following service information and Image1.4.1.
