Tractors ( 14Y1-667)The equalizer bar for D9L Tractors is fastened to the track roller frame with two pins. The bearing caps that hold the pins are machined while installed on the track roller frames. Because of tolerances, the exact location and the size of bores can be different for each cap.
If a new bearing cap is installed or if the original bearing caps are used on the opposite sides of the machine, there can be clearance problems. To prevent these problems, always check the clearance when the caps are installed.
To do this, use the procedure on pages 39 through 42 of the "D9L Tractor Power Train Service Manual," Form No. SENR2099. Use the procedures through Step 21.
Then, tighten either the outer or the inner bolt to 14 N m (120 lb in). Do not tighten the other bolt.
Use a feeler gauge to check the gap by the bolt that was not tightened. The gap must be a minimum of 0.51 mm (.020"). If the gap is too small, use a different bearing cap.
Use Steps 22 through 26 as necessary to complete the installation.
