Do not force the motor housing onto the rotating group. Damage to the motor may result. The assembly should be done in one smooth movement. If the housing does not easily fit over the rotating group, find the problem. The problem should be solved before the assembly is continued.
Evenly heat motor housing (32) to a temperature of 80°C (176°F). Position the motor housing over the hydraulic drive unit. Move motor housing (32) downward over the hydraulic drive unit. Tilt the motor housing in order to clear the hydraulic drive unit as you assemble the motor. Continue this procedure until the hydraulic drive unit bottoms out in the motor housing. A small amount of tapping on the outside of the motor housing may be needed. Do not force the components together. Allow the motor housing to cool before you continue the procedure.

Note: If the drive shaft is grooved at the seal contact area, shims with a maximum thickness of 1.0 mm (0.040 inch) may be used between lip seal (6) and cover (3) .
Use tool (B) to install lip seal (6) in cover (3) .

Install shims (4). Apply 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease to O-ring seal (5). Install the O-ring seal on the shim.
Apply SAE 10W oil to the lip seal (6). Install cover (3). If necessary, lightly tap the cover in the motor housing.
Use tool (D) to install retaining ring (2) .
Use tool (E) to pull the hydraulic drive unit against retaining ring (3). The hydraulic drive unit is now in the correct location within the housing. Remove tool (E) .

Install the following components: spring and retainer (13), bushing (16) and center pin (15) .
Use needle nose pliers and a seal pick to install bushing (16). Install the spring and retainer (13) .

Use a seal pick to compress the retainer and spring (13). Start dowel pins (14) on both sides.

Apply 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease to O-ring seal (12). Install the O-ring seal.
Apply SAE 10W oil to the bronze surface of flushing valve plate (11). Align plate (11) with locating pin (10). Install the flushing valve plate.

Install two fittings (7) and install six Allen head screws (8) with the lockwashers on the head. Tighten the six screws (8) to a torque of 72 12 N m (53 9 lb ft).

To avoid system damage, make sure that the hydraulic motor is properly filled with hydraulic oil before start-up.
Remove cap (33). Orient the motor in the position for installation on the machine. Fill the motor with SAE 10W oil.
