Troubleshooting Test Steps Values Results
1. Check The Harness
A. Turn on the key start switch.
B. Turn on the switch associated with the indicator lamp.
C. Verify that the lamp turns on.
D. Turn off the switch associated with the indicator lamp.
E. Verify that the lamp turns off. The indicator lamp functions properly with the switch position. OK - The indicator lamp turns off when the switch is off. The circuit is correct.
STOP
NOT OK - The indicator lamp is ON regardless of the switch position. The harness is shorted to the +battery.
Repair:Repair or replace the harness.
Proceed to Test Step 2.
2. Check The Switch
A. Turn the key start switch.
B. Turn on the switch associated with the indicator lamp.
C. Verify that the lamp turns on.
D. Turn off the switch associated with the indicator lamp.
E. Verify that the lamp turns off.
The lamp functions properly with the switch position. OK - The lamp functions properly with the switch position.
STOP
NOT OK - The lamp does not function properly with the switch position.
Repair: Replace the switch.
