Problem
The roller bearings for the idler shaft of the auxiliary water pump can fail, resulting in a loss of water flow to the aftercooler. The loss of water flow through the aftercooler may generate excessive inlet air temperatures and cause major engine damage.

Dealers will need to order parts for this Program. Parts Stock 1 - 6F5953 Bushing 1 - 9Y7445 Shaft As. 1 - 8L4042 Seal Affected Product 1 - 6F5953 Bushing 1 - 9Y7445 Shaft As. 1 - 7W5648 Gasket 1 - 8L4042 Seal
Action Required
Parts Stock Disassemble all 9Y1269 Water Pumps in parts stock according to the Service Manual. Machine the idler shaft bearing bore according to the dimensions shown in the illustration. Wash the housing and blow air through the oil passages to remove any machining chips. Press the 6F5953 Bushing into the idler shaft bore. Assemble pump using new parts listed. Tighten the 6L1962 Nut to 60 +- 7.0 N.m (45 +- 5 lb ft). Affected Product Remove the auxiliary water pump from the engine and disassemble the pump according to the Service Manual. Machine -the idler shaft bearing bore according to the dimensions shown in the illustration. Wash the housing and blow air through the oil passages to remove any machining chips. Press the 6F5953 Bushing into the idler shaft bore. Assemble pump using new parts listed. Tighten the 6L1962 Nut to 60 +- 7 N.m (45 +- 5 lb ft).
