Manual Operation
The power module can be used in parallel with other units to provide power for an isolated load. Manual operation refers the use of the circuit breaker switch to close the generator breaker manually. The following information describes the steps for manual operation.
Ensure that all load cable connections have been correctly made.
Verify that the unit can be safely started.
Verify that power can be applied to the load. The following procedures have instructions that are categorized as "Application 1" or "Application 2". Use the appropriate instructions for the application of the unit.Application 1 - The units that will be paralleled together to power the isolated load must all have the same auto paralleling controls. The auto paralleling controls must use the GPC-based controls.Application 2 - The units that will be paralleled together to power the isolated load, do not have the same auto paralleling controls. One or more units will be load sharing using a Woodward load share module (LSM). And one or more units will be load sharing using a "Generator Paralleling Controller" (GPC).
Verify the correct load phase rotation with the generator prior to connecting the output power cables.Failure to match the generator phase rotation with the bus connection prior to paralleling the units may result in damage to equipment.
Pre-starting Procedures
The pre-startup procedures are to be performed by qualified personnel. Perform the following steps before the units are started.
Ensure that the GPC and the UMR paralleling controls are turned on.
Select the unit that will be closed to the dead bus first. The unit that is selected must be the only unit to have a lead unit jumper installed. The lead jumper must be installed on terminals 1UP-93 and 1UP-94 in the customer connection box.

Install the required interconnect wiring between all of the units for real power (kW) load sharing. Terminals LS+ and LS- must be used for load sharing.Application One - Generator Paralleling Control (GPC) Equipped Units

"Volts Amperes Reactive" (VAR) sharing is optional if connecting GPC units for island mode load sharing. Perform the following steps to use VAR sharing.
Connect a shielded cable with a twisted pair of wires to terminals VS+ and VS- between all of the units. The interconnect wiring provides load sharing for reactive power (kVAR).
If the Cat DVR settings are unknown, then use the Caterpillar service tool to verify the configuration of the Cat DVR. The "load compensation mode" parameter must be set to OFF.Note: The Cat DVR configuration must be confirmed for each unit that will be paralleled on the isolated bus.
Enable, set to "ON", the VAR load share set point in each GPC equipped power module. Note: The VAR load share set point must be set for each unit that will be paralleled on the isolated bus.Application Two - GPC Equipped Units Paralleled with Legacy Equipped Units
