preparatory step: a) remove flywheel housing1. Remove right hand valve cover. Position No. 1 cylinder in Top Center (TC) firing position and install camshaft timing pin. 2. Remove air compressor drive gear (1). 3. Remove idler gear (2). 4. Remove balancer (3). 5. Remove variable timing cover (4). 6. Separate air compressor (5) from plate. 7. Remove plate (6). 8. Disconnect oil line (7), remove shaft retaining bolts (8), and remove camshaft and fuel injection pump idler gear (9). After removing the rear timing gears, remove the bearings from the gears as follows. 9. From the oil pump drive idler gear, remove bearing using tool setup (A). 10. Remove the balancer gear bearing using tool setup (B). 11. Remove idler gear bearing using tool setup (C). 12. Remove bearing from camshaft and fuel injection pump drive idler using tool setup (D).
