The 6V2016 Plate Assembly is used to install the rack bearing in its correct position. The outside diameter of the bearing keeps an O-ring seal in position (see Illustration 3). Fasten the 6V2016 Plate Assembly to the front of the fuel injection pump housing with two (2) S1594 Bolts (see Illustration 4). Put the new rack bearing on the end of the 9S6329 Driver and push the bearing in until the driver is stopped by the 6V2016 Plate Assembly.

The 6V2054 Shield Driver is used to install the flyweight shield on the pump camshaft. Use of this tool will prevent damage to the shield.
Put the new flyweight shield on the fuel injection pump camshaft (see Illustration 5) and install the shield with the 6V2054 Shield Driver (see Illustration 6). Then stake (bend with a punch) the shield in two (2) places.

The spring used to hold the fuel injection pump camshaft against the thrust bearing is fastened to the tachometer drive shaft with two (2) wire retainer rings. Because the parts are small and the spring is strong, it is difficult for one (1) person to remove or install the retainer rings. The 6V2163 Clamp Assembly is used for compression of the spring (see Illustration 7), which permits use of both hands for installation or removal of the parts.
To assemble the parts, install the retainer ring nearest the flyweight. Then install the spring seat, spring, other seat and bearing. Use the 6V2163 Clamp Assembly for compression of the spring and install the other retainer ring.

The 7N1048 Timing Pin holds the fuel injection pump camshaft when "pin-timing" (timing by position of the notch in the injection pump camshaft and top center mark on the flywheel) the fuel system (see Illustration 8). This timing pin is also used to put the rack in the center position while you set the dial indicator at zero to check and adjust the rack. The capacity of the pin is more than the 272 N m (202 lb ft) torque used during adjustment.

The 6V2106 Rack Adjusting Tool Group is made up of an "L"-shape rod with a 3/8" (9.5 mm) double hexagonal socket on one end. It has a 3/32" (1.4 mm) tee handle hexagonal wrench. (See Illustration 2.)
