Illustration 4.3. Be sure each hole in the bottom tank is clean. Put liquid soap on the sealing areas of the bottom tank. Put liquid soap on the seals and install the seals on the bottom tank. See Illustration 3. The difference between the 8N5130 Seal and the 8N7139 Seal is the distance between the projections. See Illustration 4. These projections fit into locating holes in the bottom and top tanks. Alternate seals are used across both the bottom and top tanks. Be sure to install the correct seal at each location.4. Carefully remove the protective caps from the core assemblies to avoid damage to the core and tubes. Put liquid soap on the inside diameters of the seals on the bottom tank. When installing the core assemblies, work from one side channel to the other. Install the core assembly next to the side channel and fasten it loosely to the side channel. See Illustration 5. The distance between the two projections on each end of the core assembly is different. See Illustration 6. The projections fit into locating holes in the seals. Be sure the correct end of the core assembly is installed in the seal.

Illustration 6.5. Install each of the remaining core assemblies into the bottom tank seals. Loosely install the tie straps that fasten the core assemblies together. Inspect the seals to be sure that they are not damaged, pinched or folded. See Illustration 7.6. Put liquid soap on the sealing areas of the top seals and install the seals on the top of the core assemblies. See Illustration 8.

Illustration 8.7. Be sure each hole in the top tank is clean. Put liquid soap on the sealing areas of the top tank and the seals. Install the top tank. The inlet flange on the top tank and the outlet flange on the bottom tank should be on the same side of the radiator. Be sure each core assembly is in alignment with the holes in the top tank. Push the top tank down into position on the cores. Inspect the seals to be sure that they are not damaged, pinched or folded. Loosely install the bolts that fasten the top tank to the side channels. See Illustration 9.

Starting at the center and working toward each side channel, adjust the trash gap (clearance between the edges of the core assemblies) on the grill side (front). Set the trash gap to 6.5 1.5 mm (.26 .06"). Tighten the bolts, that fasten the front tie straps to the core assemblies, to a torque
