the following guidelines for troubleshooting:
Understand the machine operation.
Know if the symptom is a characteristic of normal operation or a failure.
Use all available service literature to understand the machine systems and perform troubleshooting.
Refer to System Operation / Testing & Adjusting, UENR4904, "994K Wheel Loader LRC Machine systems Operation / Testing & Adjusting"
Refer to Electrical Schematic, UENR5399, "994K Wheel Loader Electrical System" .
Refer to Hydraulic Schematic, UENR5398, "994K Wheel Loader Hydraulic System".
Refer to OMM, SEBU9196, "994K LWL" when searching for information about normal machine functions and required maintenance.
Understand the symptom.
Speak with the operator about the symptom to acquire the following Information:
Machine performance prior to the failure.
First occurrence of the symptom.
Operating conditions at the time of the failure.
Sequence of events prior to the failure.
Troubleshooting steps that have been taken.
Inspect the machine for problems and unusual odors or noises.
Research machine records for:
Machine preventive maintenance history.
Machine repair history.
Related specific serial number service information.
Duplicate the symptom.
Operate the machine. Repeat the conditions that caused the failure.
Check the gauges. Look for unusual indications.
Determine possible causes.
Determine if an electronic control module (ECM) has detected any faults.
Use the information from the operator and your inspection.
If there is more than one symptom, identify a common cause.
Use the tests and procedures in this manual to verify the failure.
Repair the failure.
Test the system again to verify that the problem is resolved.
