Introduction
This instruction gives the procedure needed to install the parts that are included in the 9Y3499 Fuel Line Clamps Parts Kit. Installation of these parts on the engines given above, should give a reduction in fuel line vibration. The illustration that follows shows the contents of the parts kit. The chart gives the part number, part name and quantity. Reference: Service Manual Installation
For orientation purposes, the clamp assembly at locations (A), (B) and (C) are the clamp assemblies that will be changed and/or repositioned by installation of the parts in this parts kit. 1. Use one 1A9579 Bolt, one 0S1618 Bolt and two 9M1974 Washers to fasten 7C9198 Block (1) to the front pad on the bottom side of the cylinder head. Notch (D) in the block must face toward the rear of the engine as shown.2. Remove clamp assembly at location (A) on No. 1 fuel line. Keep the 1W9168 Clamp (non-threaded clamp) of the clamp assembly.3. Use a 7M9831 Machine Screw to assemble two 1W9168 Clamps (one old and one new) to connect No.1 and No.2 fuel lines together, at the same location where clamp assembly (A) was removed. Put two 6V7699 Washers and a 4B2047 Nut on the bottom of the machine screw. Do not tighten at this time.4. Use two 0S1615 Bolts with two 5P0537 Washers to install 7C9199 Bracket (2), loosely, (forked end toward front of engine) on block (1). Position 7C9199 Bracket so the fork is between the two 6V7699 Washers.5. Tighten the two bolts and the machine screw and nut so the fuel lines are not moved, but are supported by bracket (2).6. Remove the clamp assembly at location (B) on No.4 fuel line (last clamp before the adapter), and install it at location (E) (second bend in fuel line after No.4 fuel pump), so it connects to No.3 and No.4 fuel lines. Position the clamp so it is as close as possible to the bend.7. Use one 1A9579 Bolt, one 0S1618 Bolt and two 9M1974 Washers to fasten 7C9198 Block (3) (not shown) to the fourth pad on the bottom side of the cylinder head. Notch (D) (not shown) of this block must face toward the front of the engine.8. Remove the clamp assembly at location (C) (first clamp assembly) on No.5 fuel line. Keep the 1W9168 Clamp (non-threaded clamp) of the clamp assembly.9. Use a 7M9831 Machine Screw (threaded end up) and two 1W9168 Clamps (one old and one new) to connect fuel lines No.5 and No.6 together. Add two 6V7699 Washers and a 4B2047 Nut. Do not tighten at this time.10. Use two 0S1615 Bolts with two 5P0537 Washers to install 7C9200 Bracket, loosely, (forked end of bracket toward front of engine) on block (3). Position 7C9200 Bracket so the fork is between the two 6V7699 Washers.11. Tighten the two bolts and the machine screw and nut carefully so the fuel lines are not moved.
