Introduction
This procedure should be performed if the machine will shift freely between all REVERSE gears, but will not move when shifted into any FORWARD gear. Step 1. Check pressure.a. With the engine running and the parking brake disengaged, shift the transmission into Forward gear.b. Check the pressure on clutch 1 (14A).
Figure 1: Transmission Controls
(14) Modulating valve. (14A) Clutch one (modulating valve). (14B) Clutch two (modulating valve). (14C) Clutch three (modulating valve). (14D) Clutch four (modulating valve). (14E) Clutch five (modulating valve). Expected Result: The pressure is less than 20 psi. Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 3.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 2. Step 2. Inspect transmission modulating valve.a. Disassemble and inspect the transmission modulating valve for clutch 1.b. Repair as required.c. Check operation of machine for original complaint.
Figure 2: ECPC Clutch Solenoid Valve Identification Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - STOP.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 3. Step 3. Check pressure.a. With the engine running, the parking brake engaged, and the transmission inn Forward, check the pressure for clutch 2 (14B).See Figure 1: Transmission Controls Expected Result: The pressure is greater than 2205kPa (320 psi). Results:* OK - Proceed to Step 7.* NOT OK - Proceed to Step 4. Step 4. Interchange valves.a. Interchange the transmission modulating valve for clutch two with the transmission modulating valve for clutch three.b. Verify whether the problem "follows" the valve.See Figure 2: ECPC Clutch Solenoid Valve Identification Results:* FOLLOWS - Proceed to Step 6.* DOES NOT FOLLOW - Proceed to Step 5. Step 5. Restore valves.a. Restore valves to their original locations, noting suspect valve.b. Operate machine under normal conditions.See Figure 2: ECPC Clutch Solenoid Valve Identification Expected Result: The original complaint is resolved. Results:* OK - There may have been an obstruction in the valve that was displaced during the procedure. Change the oil and filter elements and clean the screens. Calibrate the transmission modulating valve using the procedure in SENR8367 "Power Train Electronic Control System". Reference: Refer to Power Train Electronic Control System, SENR8367, "Submode 31 to 35 and
