Parts Needed
(1) Remove the track, roller frame and sprocket assemblies; see the Service Manual. Remove final drive case (1) and hub assembly (2). Put hub assembly (2) on wood blocks and remove bolts (3) and the locks, if so equipped. Put a mark across the hub and hub assembly at location (A) so it can be installed in the same position from which it was removed. Use three 3/4"-10 pusher bolts for separation of the carrier from the hub. (2) Remove planet gears (4), thrust washers (5), the bearings and hubs (6). If only the bearings or hubs (6) have a failure without damage to gears (4), the former part number parts can be used without modification. See the chart on page 2 for the parts needed. (3) If the new cage-type bearings are to be installed with the former planet gears, hubs and thrust washers, make modifications to the former parts in the procedures that follow: machine the outer diameter of hubs (6) and thrust washers (5) and machine the inner diameter of gears (4) to the dimensions shown. Keep the new diameter concentric (with the same center) with the other diameter(s) of each part. Thoroughly clean the parts after the machine work is complete. (4) To install the new part number parts, or the former parts with modifications, use the procedure that follows: put one new caged bearing (7) and thrust washer (8) in position on each planet gear hub (9) and use a press to install the planet hubs in hub assembly (2). Install three planet gears (10), three new caged bearings (11) and thrust washer (12). Put the hub on hub assembly (2) with marks (A) in alignment. Install bolts (13) with 9H1031 Washers and bolts (14) with 2S115 Washers. Do not use the former locks, if the machine was so equipped. Tighten bolts (13) and (14) to 550 30 lb.ft. (750 40) and 325 15 lb.ft. (440 20) torque, respectively.
